The Shoghaken Folk Ensemble was founded in 1995 in Yerevan. Shoghaken presents traditional Armenian folk music, using only traditional instruments, maintaining an authentic sound with the duduk, zurna, dhol, kanon, kamancha, shvi, blul, ud, and dap. The ensemble is known throughout Armenia, the former Soviet Union, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States for their unique interpretation of traditional Armenian folk and troubadour music.
From 2000 to 2014, “Shoghaken” has been offering fantastic shows of Armenian traditional music and songs to the foreign listener. Shoghaken Folk Ensemble, now known worldwide, was created in 1995 in Yerevan and performs traditional Armenian folk music. The musicians use only traditional instruments, maintaining an authentic sound with the duduk, zurna, dhol, kanon, kamancha, shvi, blul, ud, and dap. The soloists of “Shoghaken” Gevorg Dabaghyan, Hasmik Harutyunyan, Aleksan Harutyunyan, and Karine Hovhannisyan are well known throughout Armenia, the former Soviet Union, Europe and the United States for their unique interpretation of traditional Armenian folk and troubadour music.
