Ruben Vardanyan

Lives and works in Yerevan, Armenia

Ruben Vardanyan was born on June 4, 1951 in Yerevan, Armenia. Like many Armenian painters, Ruben began his artistic path in a Soviet reality. The first creative period, the years 1982 -87, is best characterized by graphic works and scenography although he also makes the oil painting. After 1987 Ruben focuses more on realism (oil painting) - his favorite themes are figurative scenes, scenes of daily life and portraits. Ruben also excels in his watercolors. His color palette draws heavily from the sun and warm colors of Armenia. When he paints Paris, for example, his light and colors give a different light, very warm and intoxicating, to the streets and buildings of Paris.
